H V Morton is to be commemorated by a blue plaque in his birthplace of Ashton-under-Lyne. Lesley Larkin writes on behalf of Councillor Frank Robinson of Tameside Metropolitan Borough council:

"Greetings to everyone around the world who sent e-mails to Councillor Frank Robinson regarding Henry V. Morton.

"Henry is to be honoured with a Tameside Blue Plaque. Councillor Robinson said 'a Blue Plaque will be a fitting tribute to the great writer H.V. Morton. As ever we are asking if there are any relatives living locally who can add their personal reminiscences to our records and who would like to be included in the ceremony'.

"The ceremony is expected to take place in Spring 2004."
